Optimizing exposure: Between-session mental rehearsal as an augmentation strategy

چکیده
Exposure therapy is widely empirically supported as a treatment for anxiety disorders, but clinically significant response rates hover around 50%. This study explores strategies consolidating the exposure memory way of improving efficacy. Between-session mental rehearsal learning was examined enhancing effects therapy. Sixty-two spider-fearful individuals completed baseline questionnaires and behavioral approach test with live tarantula, followed by two sessions in vivo exposures, post-assessment one-week later that repeated test. Skin conductance, subjective distress, number steps were recorded at each Participants randomized to or control (non-specific) prompted on three occasions after session. both conditions improved from post-assessment, participants showed significantly greater improvement than across questionnaire measurements spider fear, during Findings suggest between-session an effective supplement As such, may be promising avenue toward increasing many psychiatric disorders benefit

Shaping Reality through Mental Rehearsal.
Previous research has shown that mental rehearsal can improve performance. A new study by Vyas et al. (2018) reveals that direct modulation of neural dynamics using a brain-computer interface can also modify physical movements. The study further demonstrates that "mental practice" and physical movements share a common neural subspace.

متن کاملOptimizing the Exposure Indicator as a Dose Management Strategy in Computed Radiography.
PURPOSE To investigate a technique for optimizing radiation dose and image quality for a computed radiography system. METHODS Entrance skin doses were measured for phantom models of the pelvis and lumbar spine imaged using the vendor's recommended exposure settings (ie, the reference doses) as well as doses above and below the vendor's recommended settings for both body parts. Images were ass...
متن کاملAdoption as an offspring strategy to reduce ectoparasite exposure.
Adoption occurs frequently in colonial species where both the cost of parasitism and the opportunity for dependent young to find a foster family are typically high. Because ectoparasites show highly aggregated distributions among colony members, we tested two central predictions of the novel hypothesis that adoption is driven by selection on young to reduce ectoparasite load: first, that nest-b...
متن کاملAugmentation of exposure therapy with post-session administration of D-cycloserine.
BACKGROUND Pre-session administration of d-cycloserine (DCS) has been found to augment exposure therapy outcomes in a variety of anxiety disorders. To be able to enhance learning only for successful exposure sessions, it would be beneficial to have the option of administering DCS after rather than before the session, a strategy encouraged by pre-clinical work. We believe the present study is th...
